Lebanon, a heaven for shoppers In Lebanon,the shopper’s paradise, one can find anything here, from designer labels of international chains to local products of high quality. Commercial centers, malls, market places, exhibitions, fair and other shopping areas, offer a huge variety. Men’s, women’s and kid’s shops can please all budgets. You can dress up from one of the designer label stores such as Gucci, Ferre, Versace; Baby Guess, MotherCare and Spiga Junior for kids. For those who like the Lebanese taste in clothes, there are showrooms of Lebanese designers in Beirut, Tripoli Zahleh and other main cities, besides the many shopping streets and areas. Leather goods, women accessories, Jewelry, perfumes, sports equipment, gift products, even household items can be found also under one roof, whereas department stores are spread over Beirut and its suburbs. Handicrafts Handicrafts are tied to the life-style of the Lebanese, and reflect the country’s history and environment. Old traditions are still practiced in Lebanon; each region is specialized in specific crafts. Mats, rugs and wove baskets have been the art of villagers. Local Festivals, National Dance & Music In summer, almost every village has a festival in which traditional music and dance play a part. In other words, the country has a lively arts scene. Festivals are taking place every year, and the most famous is Baalbeck festival that runs for four days. Similar festivals of great importance are taking place annually, in Beiteddine, Tyre and other cities. However, the best examples of traditional festivals are those wedding festivals performed in villages, a part of the Lebanese culture. The national dance is Dabke, an energetic folk dance that is performed all over the country. Dancers wear the traditional costume.
